4. Tyrod Taylor

Not-so-fun fact: Joe Burrow’s first NFL loss came against the Tyrod Taylor-led Chargers. Taylor started just that one game for Los Angeles before Justin Herbert took over and the rest is history. He was also replaced by Baker Mayfield in Cleveland the year before and by Davis Mills this season.

Taylor wouldn’t be walking into a similar situation in Cincinnati, as he’d know his role when signing with the team. He’s spent time with five different teams during his decade-long NFL career and this would be his third team in as many years.

I’m not sure if Taylor thinks he could still land a starting job somewhere but if the Bengals offer him a multi-year deal to come and backup Joe Burrow, you’d have to think he’d be interested in that offer. He could sit behind one of the best quarterbacks in the league and fans know that if Taylor had to step in, the team would still be respectable.

This is yet another signing that fans wouldn’t be thrilled about but backup quarterbacks are backups for a reason.
