3. Jackson Carman

The only player to now have appeared on two of these offensive line position lists is Jackson Carman, who played right guard in several games last season.

The Bengals spent a second-round pick on Carman in last year’s draft with the intent of moving him to one of the two guard spots after he played left tackle at Clemson. Transitioning to a new position is difficult and Carman, while not terrible, showed that he needed more reps at his new spot.

Carman also made my left guard list because it might make sense to move him back to the side that he’s more comfortable on. That’ll depend on if Quinton Spain is retained or not.

The reason I’ve now put Carman on two of these lists is that I just can’t see the organization giving up on him so soon. Maybe he ends up as a backup for the rest of his rookie contract but that’d be a waste of a second-round pick.

If one of the two guard spots isn’t addressed in free agency or the draft, Carman is probably going to start there.
