With Bengals free agency just days away from getting underway, let’s take a look at the best free agents available and discuss if they’re fits for the reigning AFC champions.

With the Cincinnati Bengals’ surprise trip to the Super Bowl this past season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team in position to land top free agents this spring. We all know they need to address their offensive line along with a few different spots on defense so would the top 10 free agent options fill those needs?

I used Sports Illustrated’s top 10 free agents for this particular list but had to obviously remove any of the guys who had been tagged.

Let’s get to it!

10. J.C. Jackson (Cornerback)

The Patriots made the decision to not tag their star cornerback J.C. Jackson despite him only being 26 years old and playing at a high level. Now Jackson stands to make a ton of money in free agency with Spotrac projecting him to earn a five-year deal worth a whopping $104 million.

While the Bengals could absolutely use Jackson in their secondary, that money could be put toward other areas needing attention. Jackson is a fit for the Bengals but financially, they should probably pass.

9. Carlton Davis (Cornerback)

Another cornerback option and a cheaper one at that (though not by much). Spotrac has Carlton Davis earning a five-year deal worth $98 million, which is less than what Jackson will earn but still a lot of money.

The NFL is a pass-happy league though and that’s why teams are going to pay cornerbacks a ton of money. They need these top cornerbacks to slow down all of these explosive offenses. Davis is definitely a fit for Cincinnati but would they spend nearly $100 million on him?
