Bengals Free Agency: B.J. Hill is sticking around to help defense dominate
Bengals free agency just got underway and the Cincinnati Bengals have already made three moves early on in the legal tampering period. The latest is re-signing B.J. Hill to a three-year deal worth $30 million, including a whopping $15 million this year.
This is a move that Bengals fans wanted to see happen and that opinion intensified once Larry Ogunjobi signed with the Bears earlier in the day. We all figured Cincinnati wouldn’t be able to keep both guys and when Ogunjobi signed a whopping three-year deal worth $40.5 million, it felt all too certain that the stripes would go all-in for their guy Hill.
Hill is making $10.5 million less than his counterpart but he’ll get paid a lot of dough in 2022.
Bengals Free Agency: B.J. Hill is back!
Cincy acquired Hill last summer in a trade with the Giants. They shipped former first-round pick Billy Price to the Giants in exchange for a guy who would end up being a huge part of their defense, especially in the playoffs.
When the trade went down, fans felt good that the Bengals would “win” the trade so to speak but not many people saw Hill being as much of an impact player as he’s been. He had a huge interception off of Patrick Mahomes in the AFC Championship Game and that helped spark the comeback.
Cincinnati had to put a lot of emphasis in the trenches on both sides of the ball and they’ve done just that not even more than a few hours into the legal tampering process.
How do you all feel about Hill being back in the Queen City? The team is doing what they need to do to get back to the Super Bowl and let’s hope they’re far from over!
