Stephon Gilmore, CB

One of the things that elevated the Bengals last season was the ability of their defense to make plays. When the offense got stuck the defense was able to bail them out more often than not. Part of that was due to the stellar play of Chidobe Awuzie, Mike Hilton, and Eli Apple.

Apple turned into the NFL villain but played well enough throughout the season that he may have priced himself out of returning to the Queen City. If he decides to leave and the Bengals are willing to still spend big, there are a few options to replace him.

The best bet is Stephon Gilmore. He is starting to get up there in age, which may help to lower his price, but he would be able to slot into the Cincinnati defense and become an immediate impact player. This move would allow Cincy to draft a corner and allow them time to develop for a year or two before coming in and taking over a starting job.

All in all, Gilmore might be a bit out of range for what Cincinnati is willing to pay, but as arguably the best remaining cornerback, calling his agent and seeing what the price range is should be a top Day 2 priority.
