The Cincinnati Bengals made it their top priority to shore up the offensive line on the first day of legal tampering. They added Alex Cappa and Ted Karras and on Day 2 of legal tampering, another name has emerged that would make a lot of sense in Cincinnati — J.C. Tretter.

Bengals fans are familiar with Tretter, as he’s spent the past five years in Cleveland. Before that, he was in Green Bay for three years after the Packers spent a fourth-round pick on him in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Browns released Tretter on Tuesday morning and Bengals fans immediately wanted the team to swoop in and add him to their already-improved offensive line.

J.C. Tretter would make Bengals OL even better

Hypothetically, if Cincy were to sign Tretter, that’d give them an interior line of Ted Karras, Tretter, and Cappa, which would be a huge improvement from the group that was there a year ago (Quinton Spain-Trey Hopkins-Hakeem Adeniji/Jackson Carman).

Field Yates tweeted that Tretter is a dependable guy who seldom misses games. He mentioned that Tretter missed one game in 2021 due to testing positive for COVID-19 but otherwise, he was present for 100% of the snaps in Cleveland. That’s the kind of guy the Bengals should want for their new o-line.

Many felt that Karras would probably be the starting center because he’s played there and at both guard spots but with Tretter in Cincinnati, Karras could slide over to left guard. The Bengals would have a whole new interior line but that’s not a bad thing, especially with how bad the o-line played a season ago.

Tretter could make the Bengals a better team and that’s why the team should absolutely be on the phone with his agent to get him to the Queen City. Luckily, Cincinnati isn’t far from Cleveland so Tretter wouldn’t have to move too far and he’d be in the same state.
