1. Chris Evans

Chris Evans was a rookie last season, and when he got snaps, he did very well, especially toward the end of the season, when he started receiving kick returns for the team. Evans should see a lot more time this year because he is a different back type than Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. Evans can line up in the slot, can take hand-offs, and catch passes out of the backfield.

Don’t be shocked if fans see Evans take the role as the number two running back if he has an excellent training camp and preseason. Expect him also to be the primary kick returning this season while Trent Taylor returns punts.

Evans knows where the chains are, he is smart with the football in his hands, and he knows where to be and where to go in his spots. He showed that in his rookie year because he easily could’ve ended up fourth on the running back depth chart or potentially on the practice squad if he fell behind Pooka Williams and Trayveon Williams.

After having a really impressive camp, we saw him come in at number three on the depth chart, and Zac Taylor even found ways to get him involved in the offense as the season went along, if it was special teams or are on certain down situations. Chris Evans is a darkhorse sleeper for a big year two in the Queen City.
