QB3: Jake Browning

The only other quarterback on the Bengals’ roster ahead of the draft is Jake Browning, who joined the team last summer.

Browning played college football at Washington spending the 2015 – 2018 seasons with the Huskies. He threw for a total of 12,296 yards, 94 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions in his four years in Seattle.

Following the 2019 NFL Draft, Browning signed with the Vikings after he went undrafted and spent the first two years of his pro career there. After the Vikings cut him last summer, he joined the Bengals and mostly served on the practice squad.

Browning signed a reserve/future contract with the team in February so he’ll be around to compete for a roster spot again this year.

Unless he has a really impressive preseason and Allen flat-out stinks, Browning’s likely destination for the 2022 season is on the practice squad. He could also end up elsewhere too if the team finds a signal-caller they like more as a potential third-stringer.

As I mentioned on the intro slide, the quarterback depth chart for the Cincinnati Bengals is pretty cut and dry. Do you think this will change much after the 2022 NFL Draft wraps up?
