Cincinnati Bengals RB depth chart ahead of 2022 NFL Draft
The Rest: Elijah Holyfield, Pooka Williams, Trayveon Williams
The other three running backs on the Bengals’ roster as of this writing are Elijah Holyfield, Pooka Williams, and Trayveon Williams. The most-tenured of this bunch is Trayveon Williams, who was a sixth-round pick by Cincy in the 2019 NFL Draft. Trayveon appeared in five games this year, rushing for 51 yards and catching one pass for four yards.
Pooka Williams went undrafted last year and the Bengals were wise to sign him as an undrafted free agent. Pooka was one of the few bright spots for the Kansas Jayhawks during his collegiate career so it was a bit surprising to see him go undrafted.
Unfortunately, Pooka didn’t do a ton as a rookie. He appeared in just one game and served as a return specialist, returning three kickoffs. Pooka has a lot to gain this summer because he can stake his claim as a potential return specialist for the team.
Holyfield spent his collegiate career at Georgia and went undrafted in 2019. He signed with the Panthers as a UDFA but didn’t stick there. He signed with the Eagles late in the season and actually played in Philadelphia’s Wild Card game in that season’s playoffs.
Holyfield joined the Bengals last October and was on their practice squad during the course of the season. That’s a role he could have again in 2022 but he can potentially move up with a positive training camp and preseason as well.
Unfortunately for these three, however, the best role they could possibly hope for in the 2022 season is the third-string running back, as Mixon and Evans are locks to make the team and Perine might end up sticking around as well.
