The Rest: Trent Taylor, Pooka Williams

The team only has eight guys listed as wide receivers on their official roster and Pooka Williams was listed as a wide receiver, so that’s why he’s included here despite also appearing on the running back depth chart.

We’ll go ahead and address Williams first since I’ve already started discussing him. He was one of the few effective players for Kansas during his three years in Lawrence and it was a bit surprising to see him go undrafted. He’s trying to carve out a role as a return specialist for the Bengals and that might be where he has the best chance at sticking.

Speaking of return-specialist, that’s where Trent Taylor made a name for himself last year. After Darius Phillips was injured and missed the rest of the season, the Bengals found success with Taylor in that role. He fielded seven punt returns and four kick returns during his time with the team and finished the season with two catches for 41 yards.

It’s hard not to envision the Bengals drafting a wide receiver at some point this year. Maybe they wait until late in the draft to do so, but they need depth at the position and there should still be some solid talent at wideout as the draft gets into Day 3.
