Bootsy Collins

Cincy local and soul/funk legend, Bootsy Collins, is a massive fan of the orange and black cats. In 1968, Collins started a band called the Pacemakers. They were eventually hired as the band for James Brown and from there the rest was history.

He joined Funkadelic who released the iconic funk album “Maggot Brain” in 1971. He still works to this day even featuring on a track on Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s 2021 album “Silk Sonic”. Bootsy’s fandom is no secret, especially to anyone from the Queen City.

Collins’ fandom is as loud as his outfits. Overly boisterous and always uniquely his own, Bootsy even made a song for our boys in the stripes. In fact, in 2005 Bootsy released a song titled “FeaR Da Tiger” and in 2022 he can it an update.

Here is the 2022 version.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 4th in a list of the 50 greatest bassists of all time. I think we can all agree he probably ranks number one, or at least close to the top of Bengals fandom.
