Cincinnati Bengals TE depth chart ahead of 2022 NFL Draft
TE3: Mitchell Wilcox
Mitchell Wilcox played his college ball at South Florida and went undrafted in 2020. He later joined the Bengals as an undrafted free agent and spent that season on their practice squad. This past year saw Wilcox not only make the final roster but he appeared in a few games.
Wilcox appeared in 15 games this past season and most of his playing time was spent on special teams. He played 57% of special teams snaps during the course of the 2021 season as opposed to just 9% of offensive snaps. Wilcox finished the season with just three receptions for 16 yards.
If a drafted tight end moves Sample to TE3, Wilcox will then be TE4 and be fighting for a roster spot for the 2022 season. For now, however, he’s the third-string option for the stripes.
The Rest: Thaddeus Moss, Scotty Washington, Nick Eubanks
These are the rest of the tight ends on Cincinnati’s roster and will be battling it out to make the final roster in 2022.
Thaddeus Moss was someone who a lot of Bengals fans fell in love with last summer (myself included). A big reason why is that he played at LSU with Joe Burrow and that’s why the Bengals picked him up last offseason. Sadly, though, Moss never saw playing time in 2021. He was close to making his debut at one point but didn’t end up taking the field.
Scotty Washington spent last year on the practice squad. The Wake Forest product has yet to find his way onto the field during a regular-season game.
Nick Eubanks was signed a few weeks ago and is probably a camp body for the team. He hasn’t played in a regular-season game either, so all three of these guys have that in common.
The four guys mentioned on this slide have their work cut out for them when it comes to making the final roster and trying to find the field in 2022. Moss is a popular “dark horse” contributor pick but I might be past that point considering he never even played last year when the hype was everywhere for him.
