A common theme in these trade scenarios has been sending Bates to an NFC team, something Cincinnati should value when negotiating with teams. Even with a rookie head coach,  Minnesota might be looking at their window to succeed starting next season.

The Green Bay Packers are not going to be the powerhouse they have been the past few seasons. Yes, they still have Aaron Rodgers, but now Rodgers will be forced to play without his top weapon, Davante Adams. On the defensive side of the ball, Green Bay lost their best edge rusher, Za’Darius Smith, to the Vikings themselves!

It’s not crazy to call this Vikings team the favorite in the NFC North heading into next season, but add Bates to this team, and they might be the unanimous favorite. Harrison Smith and Jessie Bates would arguably form the best safety duo in the NFL.

If the Bengals want the Vikings’ first-round pick, they’ll have to throw in a Day 3 selection, something that shouldn’t be an issue for Cincinnati. Acquiring pick 12 would give the Bengals many options; Kyle Hamilton is rumored to be falling down draft boards, and the likelihood of one of the top three corners (Stingley, Gardner, and McDuffie) being available at 12 is extremely high.

Cincinnati would have plenty of options to add to their secondary with picks 12 and 31.
