The Rest: Wyatt Hubert, Joseph Ossai, Noah Spence

The rest of the defensive linemen on the team’s official roster will have the most to gain or lose from training camp and the preseason.

Joseph Ossai is the only one who’s safe from being cut out of this bunch, as the third-round pick out of Texas had a promising preseason last summer but an injury kept him out of his entire rookie year. He’s back to make an impact this year, however, and fans can’t wait to see him take the field.

Wyatt Hubert also was drafted last year, but he was taken in the seventh round. Like Ossai, he was also injured and forced to miss his rookie year. Hubert missing time as a rookie was critical because seventh-round picks have to prove themselves earlier on more so than a third-rounder.

Fortunately, Hubert should be back and ready to contribute in 2022. The Kansas State product had 8.5 sacks for the Wildcats during the 2020 season.

Noah Spence was on the team last year but appeared in just two games. The former second-round pick out of Eastern Kentucky (he also played at Ohio State) recorded six tackles.

We’ll see some movement on this part of the depth chart, as a draft pick will come in here and shake things up for sure.
