Chargers GM: Alex
The Chargers were a game away from the playoffs last year, but with the arms race in the AFC, they need to add depth on defense. Trent McDuffie lacks size but can make up for that with great technique and IQ.
Reaction: The Chargers need to make sure their defense is up to speed in that gauntlet of a division so Trent McDuffie is a solid selection here. – Leigh
Eagles GM: Bennett
After adding a receiver with their first pick, linebacker is the team’s next target. Nakobe Dean would likely have been the pick at #15 if Wilson wasn’t available, so to get him at 18 would be a dream come true for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
Reaction: Howie Roseman never spends first-rounders on linebackers. He doesn’t value the position. Taking Dean here would definitely be a break from his long-standing draft philosophy. – Rob
Saints GM: Leigh
This wasn’t the direction I intended to take with the Saints, I promise. With the strong run on wide receivers and Malik Willis slipping to the middle of the first round, it was hard to pass up on the guy everyone seems to think is the best quarterback prospect of this class. Jameis Winston is signed for two years so Willis has no pressure on him in year one.
Reaction: Malik Willis said it himself, he believes he will go somewhere in the first 20 picks. Here, he goes #19 to the New Orleans Saints. Willis will have no pressure to start day one and will have plenty of time to develop in this system. – Bennett
Steelers GM: Rob
The Steelers are desperate for a quarterback but the top two options are off the board with Malik Willis going right before they were slated to pick. It’s failing that they also need pass rush and Boye Mafe would fit the need.
Reaction: Given how terrible the Steelers were on offense last year, I would have thought they try to provide more options for their new QB. – Alex
