The Cincinnati Bengals entered the 2022 NFL Draft with eight picks at their disposal. They made a trade in the second round and gave up their sixth-round pick to do so and then made another trade in the fifth round, surrendering one of their two seventh-rounders. That left them with six picks, which they spent mostly on the defensive side of the ball.

It wasn’t that this draft was bad for the Bengals but it was definitely an interesting one. The team had the luxury of being the reigning AFC champions and for the most part, boast a very strong roster so maybe that’s why some of their picks seemed puzzling to some.

The team didn’t have any major needs due to having a strong team that is fresh off a Super Bowl appearance. That allowed them to be more flexible with their draft choices.

With the draft officially in the rearview mirror and the Bengals now moving on to the next phase of the offseason, let’s take a look at three takeaways from the Bengals’ 2022 draft.
