Round 3: Pick 99 – David Bell, WR, Purdue

The reason Browns fans should absolutely love David Bell and this selection is because it gives the Browns a wide receiver who is capable of making an impact right away alongside Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Bell faced the best cornerbacks in the country weekly in the Big Ten, and Purdue just recently produced an NFL talent wide receiver in Rondale Moore just last season. In three seasons at Purdue, Bell caught over 230 passes and had just shy of 3,000 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. Last season he had six touchdowns and 1,286 yards.

Honestly, Bell slipped into the third round because of his Combine, which wasn’t very impressive. That shouldn’t stereotype Bell’s overall speed and abilities, though. He is a quick wideout, and he is a shifty wideout who can make plays in the open field and put pressure on defensive secondaries he faces.

The Browns haven’t necessarily filled their void at wide receiver, but with Bell, Cooper, Peoples-Jones, and Schwartz, they are headed in the right direction.

Still, they will be relying heavily on those guys staying healthy because if they get faced with an injury bug, it will be hard for their offense to get production outside of their run game, where they are a powerhouse.
