It didn’t take long for Joe Burrow to earn his slew of nicknames, but another member of the Cincinnati Bengals apparently has his own moniker, too.

Second-round pick Cam Taylor-Britt recently joined a Bengals secondary chockful of talent from fellow rookie Daxton Hill to star safety Jessie Bates, but Taylor-Britt has already differentiated himself from the crowd.

The Nebraska product offers plenty of speed and explosion to Cincy’s backfield and has rightfully been dubbed “The Energizer Bunny” by a former teammate.

Bengals wideout Stanley Morgan Jr., who played with Taylor-Britt at Nebraska, explains why he gave the corner his affectionate nickname:

"“I called him ‘The Energizer Bunny.’ He’s a hard worker. He’s always been that way … We’ll get an energetic humble beast. He’s not afraid to fail. He’s not afraid to throw himself around. And just giving his all for the team. I love that about him.”"

The Bengals desperately need corner reinforcements in the 2022 draft and traded up to take Taylor-Britt in the second round, which ultimately proved to be a good value deal.

Taylor-Britt will compete with the notorious Eli Apple for the starting job, and given Apple’s tendency to not put his money where his mouth is, we think the rookie will overtake him by mid-season.

Aside from Apple, Taylor-Britt will be surrounded by a star-studded cornerback cast of Chidobe Awuzie and Tre Flowers and should fit in nicely.

Cornerback was considered a dire need for Cincy after last season, and if the Bengals want to make another Super Bowl run, acquiring upgrades in the backfield will be key to their success.

Though Apple enjoyed a fairly productive 2021 season, we wouldn’t pick him as our top option to, say, guard Cooper Kupp again. Cincy took an important step in rebuilding their secondary this draft, and Cam Taylor-Britt appears to have the raw talent and work ethic to make an immediate impact in Year 1.
