Running Backs (4)

Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, Chris Evans, Trayveon Williams

I don’t expect much movement from last season. The only possible thing the stripes could do here is to remove Trayveon Williams and move him to the practice squad or possibly cut him.

Joe Mixon is and will be the lead back, Samaje Perine compliments Mixon well and is an excellent special teams player, and Chris Evans was a rookie last year who received a lot of meaningful snaps last season as the year went along.

Evans became the starting kickoff returner at the end of the year too. Williams has been the odd one out for the last three seasons. Keeping four running backs on the depth chart is how Cincy will go to play it safe.

Chris Evans could see his snaps increase and potentially surpass Perine as the number two back on the depth chart if he has a good training camp and preseason.

Shermari Jones, a UDFA out of Coastal Carolina, is the only other back that could compete for a roster spot. Therefore, the Bengals will likely keep him on the practice squad and let him continue to develop unless he comes in and outplays Williams; then, it could get interesting.
