The Cincinnati Bengals are very particular and different regarding how they use their linebackers and the amount they keep on the depth chart at one time. However, with the number of injuries the Bengals had at the position, expect them to keep anywhere from 5-to 7 on the 53-man roster. Logan Wilson, Germaine Pratt, and Akeem Davis-Gaither are the three primary linebackers.

Markus Bailey stepped into that number three role and, at times, was the number two linebacker last season when Davis-Gaither went down with a season-ending injury and Wilson took games off due to a shoulder injury. Joe Bachie also had his season cut short due to injury, but he was playing some efficient and solid football before that, which could make him a lock for the roster this year.

Jordan Evans has the experience but could be the one on the fringe. However, he doesn’t have a ton of competition to lose the job to besides maybe Keandre Jones or Clay Johnston. Still, as I mentioned, there is a chance the Bengals only take five linebackers, especially if they take four or five safeties because they could always stick a guy like Vonn Bell or Daxton Hill in the box to fill a void.

The fact is that Jordan Evans will be the name to watch throughout camp. He’s coming off a torn ACL, so as he gets adjusted, this will be a big offseason for him leading up to the season.
