Trade No. 1: Bengals send Jessie Bates to Texans in exchange for 2023 third-round pick

This is likely the most realistic deal of the three. In this scenario, the Bengals land a 2023 second-round pick for Jessie Bates from the Houston Texans.

While it would be nice to get a player in return for Bates that could help the team this season, a second-round pick is looking to be the most the Bengals can get. While it would be a lot more helpful to send the former second-round pick to the NFC, sending him to a team far from contention in the AFC works too.

The Texans are currently +20000 odds to win the Super Bowl, per WynnBET. To say they’re nowhere close to contending is an understatement.

As with all of these trades, the Bengals would now rely heavily on first-round pick Daxton Hill. The Michigan product would slide right into that starting free safety spot, with fifth-round pick Tycen Anderson possibly getting looks there as well.
