Starting LG: Jackson Carman

Backups: Hakeem Adeniji, Desmond Noel

Left guard is the only position that isn’t a lock when it comes to who will start there. With that said, however, Jackson Carman is the favorite to win the job.

A few things that could lead to a change at the left guard spot is Carman not performing well in the preseason, another player (Cordell Volson, in particular) playing really well, or more coming out on the troubling news we’ve heard about Carman.

Carman was a second-round pick in last year’s draft and didn’t do much as a rookie. He moved from left tackle in college to playing right guard in the pros and that’s not an easy transition to make. Now, he’s looking to play left guard, which at least puts him back on his preferred side of the o-line.

Hakeem Adeniji could be on the outside looking in when the final roster is assembled but he does have years of starting experience on his resumé. Desmond Noel is a local kid who fans are pulling for but he’s going to have to put together quite the preseason in order for a roster spot to be a possibility for him.
