Starting RG: Alex Cappa

Backups: Cordell Volson, Ben Brown

The first move of free agency was the Bengals signing Alex Cappa to shore up their right guard position. Cappa played in Tampa Bay before joining Cincinnati and fans were thrilled that he chose to join the good guys and don the stripes for the next few years.

Right guard was a revolving door last year so Cappa’s addition ensures that it won’t be a pushover position again in 2022, assuming he remains healthy, of course.

Behind Cappa, at least for now, is fourth-round rookie Cordell Volson and UDFA Ben Brown. This could change, as Volson might end up as the starting left guard if Carman doesn’t pan out and Brown could be a backup for the left guard, center, and right guard.

While the depth behind Cappa is difficult to figure out, we all know that unless he’s injured, he’ll be starting at right guard in 2022 and beyond.
