8. Giovani Bernard (3,697)
Bengals RB from 2013-2020
Another recent name that younger fans might recognize is Giovani Bernard, who joined the team after they spent a second-round pick on him in the 2013 NFL Draft. Bernard had played his college ball at North Carolina and became an immediate threat in the Cincinnati offense.
As a rookie in 2013, Bernard notched 1,209 scrimmage yards, proving he could be a threat both on the ground and through the air. While he didn’t surpass that number, he still had over 1,000 scrimmage yards in 2014 and 2015.
Bernard started to decline in year 4, however, and a torn ACL he suffered in the 10th game of the 2016 season was the start of that decline.
Despite returning fully healthy for the 2017 season, Cincinnati had spent a third-round pick on Joe Mixon in the draft and that made the backfield pretty crowded. He had 847 yards from scrimmage that year but after the 2020 season, he wasn’t brought back, signing with the Buccaneers instead.
As of this writing, Bernard is still a member of the Buccaneers.
