2. Wyatt Hubert
The Bengals spent their seventh-round pick in last year’s draft on Kansas State product, Wyatt Hubert. This was a pick that I was excited about, as living in Kansas City, I watch a lot of Kansas State football and had followed Hubert throughout his college career. It was pretty awesome when he got drafted by the Bengals because it felt like a good fit for him.
Unfortunately, Hubert was injured last summer and we never even got to see him play in a Bengals uniform as a rookie.
Hubert’s healthy now but he won’t have an easy path to making the team. Our Lads has Hubert listed as the third-string LDE on their Bengals depth chart, placing him behind Sam Hubbard and Cam Sample. Noah Spence is also someone who will be competing with Hubert for a roster spot, as is seventh-round rookie Jeffrey Gunter.
I’d love to see Hubert succeed and make it onto the Bengals’ 53-man roster but after not getting to show what he could do last year, he has to make the most of every opportunity this summer.
