This is Ben Brown’s first year on the Cincinnati Bengals roster. What should fans expect from the UDFA out of Ole Miss during his rookie year?
Out of all of the undrafted free agents the Cincinnati Bengals signed following the 2022 NFL Draft, Ben Brown was the one fans were excited about the most. He not only gave them another offensive line option but one that’s versatile, as he played both guard and center during his time with the Rebels.
This summer will be Brown’s chance to show that he is more than a fourth-stringer option for the team. This is his chance to show that his versatility is why he should make the 53-man roster.
Bengals Roster: What should fans expect from Ben Brown in 2022?
Brown played both center and right guard during his time with Ole Miss and those are two positions the Bengals upgraded this offseason with the additions of Ted Karras and Alex Cappa. Karras was someone the team signed because he, like Brown, is versatile, having played both center and guard during his career.
Brown isn’t someone that fans should expect to be a starter unless injuries pile up and he’s forced into a starting role. What Brown can provide this team with is an offensive lineman who can play at least three positions in a pinch (left guard could be an option for him too) and that’s valuable for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
If the Bengals lose multiple starters on their offensive line, Brown will have to have the next-man-up mentality. If everyone stays healthy, we won’t see much of Ben Brown this year but hopefully, he finds his way onto the 53-man roster and not on the practice squad where he could be poached by another team.
