2. Samaje Perine

The Bengals could have moved on from Samaje Perine this offseason but as of this writing, he’s still on the roster and likely will be when the regular season gets underway in September. This is probably it for Perine, however.

First and foremost, Perine is only under contract for one more year, so he’ll be a free-agent in March. Secondly, the Bengals don’t really need him to be the backup running back anymore, as they drafted Chris Evans in the sixth round last year to eventually take over that role.

Evans didn’t a ton of playing time last year but the hope is that changes in 2022. Perine, on the other hand, was decent but Zac Taylor’s insistence on turning to him in the biggest moments is frustrating. If he’s not on the roster next year, Mixon can be the guy who has the game in his hands.

With Perine’s contract ending after this season and the Bengals having other options at running back, it wouldn’t be surprise to see him in another team’s uniform next season.
