Cam Taylor-Britt – Defensive Back

Preseason games are an excellent time to show players’ abilities and qualifications, especially for the drafted rookies. One such rookie, Nebraska cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, will have the opportunity to show why the Bengals moved up in the draft to select him in the second round. Playing well in the preseason could help Taylor-Britt win the starting corner spot held by veteran Eli Apple.

Looking back at his college resumé, Taylor-Britt had 140 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and five sacks. If Taylor-Britt can replicate his production while at Nebraska, then the sky is the limit.

With his physical play and 4.38 40-yard dash time, Taylor-Britt brings plenty to the table. He does not like to shy away from contact, and with all the great receivers the Bengals have, he will definitely have his hands full as they test his abilities early in training camp.

While Eli Apple has had his shares of ups and downs during the season, having enough quality cornerbacks is never bad. If Taylor-Britt can absorb the playbook early and apply it to preseason games, then there is hope he will challenge Apple. Either way, the secondary will be far better than last season.
