Ted Karras
Shortly after adding Alex Cappa, the Bengals signed another offensive lineman to help their weakest area from a season prior. Ted Karras was joining the reigning AFC champions after spending five of the last six years with the Patriots.
What’s appealing about Karras is his versatility. He can play both guard and center and the Bengals plan to use him at center, which was obvious after they released Trey Hopkins to save money.
Karras has experience playing for a contender, as he spent 2016-2019 with the Patriots and won two Super Bowls during that time. He’s no stranger to lining up in the trenches in big games and that’s exactly why Cincinnati went out and acquired him.
After their offensive line was to blame for the team not winning the Super Bowl, the Bengals made sure to upgrade the unit. They’ll have three new starters on their offensive line when the 2022 season kicks off in September.
These four newcomers are all on the offensive side of the ball oddly enough. Some defensive newcomers could end up starting but I left them off because it’s not a guarantee as of now.
Daxton Hill will likely only start if Jessie Bates does indeed sit out or get traded and Cam Taylor-Britt will have to beat out Eli Apple if he wants a starting gig.
