Quinton Spain
An undrafted free agent out of West Virginia, Quinton Spain spent the first four years of his career in Tennessee and then the next year and a half with the Bills. He landed in Cincinnati during the 2020 season and eventually found his way into a starting guard role.
In 2021, Spain won the starting left guard job and played decently, finishing the season with a PFF grade of 72.3. It’s a bit surprising that Spain is still available in free agency honestly. He started all but one game last year and while his Super Bowl performance was rough, he’s better than a lot of other left guards that teams are rolling with.
I was a bit surprised that the Bengals opted not to re-sign Spain but they clearly want to give Jackson Carman every chance to win the starting left guard job in 2022.
Spain should find a team to sign with at some point. After all, he’s an experienced starting guard who is coming off a nice season. Whether a team has a guard get hurt or simply wants to add some depth, Spain would be a solid choice to bring in.
All three of the players included here were starters on the Bengals’ o-line last season. Spain is likely going to be replaced by Carman, Hopkins’ replacement is Ted Karras, and Reiff wasn’t re-signed after the team added La’el Collins.
Will these former Bengals starters find a home elsewhere?
