A new look to the defensive line rotation

The biggest surprise last season for many people was how big of a jump this defensive line took. The team turned one of their biggest weaknesses into a strength and now we get to see even more young faces coming off the edge.

Joseph Ossai was a Day 2 pick who was out last season due to an injury. Ossai is an explosive edge rusher out of Texas who is expected to share a load of the snaps with some other young players. The Bengals also selected Cam Sample in last year’s draft. He had a decent season with one and a half sacks but Ossai will likely steal his roster spot if he lives up to the hype that has surrounded him.

The biggest storyline for this defensive line will be Zachary Carter who was drafted in the third round out of Florida. Carter is an absolute monster who will wreak havoc as a rotation piece for Anarumo’s defense.

Carter is bigger than Ossai which gives him a slight edge. The Florida product is nearly 300 pounds so he can be used in short yardage situations as well as passing downs. Both Ossai and Carter are more than qualified to be starters so the team is in great hands in the event of an injury.
