Predicting who will lead the Cincinnati Bengals in sacks in 2022
The Cincinnati Bengals turned their pass-rush around mightily in 2021 after sitting in last place in sacks the year before. Who will lead the team in sacks in 2022?
After recording just 17 sacks during the entire 2020 season, the Cincinnati Bengals made sure that the pass-rush would be improved the following year. While they didn’t re-sign 2020 sack-leader Carl Lawson, newcomer Trey Hendrickson ended up being the difference-maker the Bengals needed on the defensive side of the ball.
Hendrickson led the team in sacks with 14, which set the team’s all-time single-season sack record. The dude was incredible during his inaugural season as a Bengal and the expectation is that he balls out once again in 2022.
Trey Hendrickson will lead the Cincinnati Bengals in sacks in 2022
Hendrickson is the easy pick for who will lead the team in sacks this year because he’s already done it once and no one else came close to his numbers. Sam Hubbard had the second-most sacks with 7.5 and Larry Ogunjobi was right behind with 7.0 sacks. Hubbard should be able to add to his 7.5 sacks this year but Ogunjobi is now in Pittsburgh.
Hubbard is probably the only other potential option to pick for this but Hendrickson is the no-brainer choice. The only thing that stands in the way of this happening is if he gets injured so let’s all knock on wood that doesn’t happen.
Cincinnati will add some new faces on defense that could rack up some sacks but it’s doubtful they compete with Hendrickson for the top spot. Joseph Ossai should be able to get after the signal-caller and newcomers Zach Carter and Jeff Gunter can add some juice as well. Oh and don’t forget B.J. Hill, who was fourth in sacks with 5.5.
What do you think, Bengals fans? Is Trey Hendrickson the easy choice for who will lead the team in sacks this year or are you going in a different direction?
