Championship week is among us and for two lucky fantasy football teams this is the final week of the season.  If you’ve made it this far, you probably already have a set roster, but in case you suffered a set back this past week there are still some players that could give you a boost in points.  Remember, this is the end, so there is no need to hold onto those end of roster players.  Grab any handcuffs or backups to injured players that you feel might be of value this coming weekend.  Here is the final addition of “Waiver Wire Wonders” for 2014.

QB – Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid has surprisingly went away from what was an effective run game and put the ball in the hands of Alex Smith.  Smith has attempted over 30 passes in  the last three games and this week his matchup couldn’t be better. The Steelers’ pass defense is bad as they rank 27th in pass yards allowed, 28th in pass TDs allowed.  Right now, with so many quarterbacks playing inconsistent, going with Smith might not be a bad idea as he has taken care of the football and been cosistent.

RB – Toby Gerhart, Jacksonville Jaguars

Right now there isn’t a lot available on the waivers, but Gerhart should see a full load this week with Denard Robinson having been placed on the I.R.  Gerhart will face a bad Titans’ run defense and, if nothing else, should get any goal line carries.

More from Stripe Hype

WR – Harry Douglas/Devin Hester, Atlanta Falcons

If you’re a Julio Jones owner and you don’t own one or both, get on it.  Douglas had a nice game against the Steelers with 10 catches for 134 yards, the best game of the year for Douglas. Hester also had his best game of the season and he could have another nice game should Jones not suit up once again this week.

TE – Charles Clay, Miami Dolphins

Clay is playing over 80% of the snaps on offense and has developed a nice chemistry with Ryan Tannehill.  This week Clay is probably the best tight end you will find on the waiver wire heading into Week 16.
