Cincinnati Bengals who need a great camp – No. 4: Trae Waynes
Signing Trae Waynes was a big move for the Bengals last offseason but fans are still waiting to see him in the stripes. He missed the entirety of the 2020 season due to a pectoral injury and while his chances of getting injured are 50/50, it’s important for him to show that he was worthy of the deal he received from Cincy.
Prior to signing with the Bengals, Waynes played five seasons with the Vikings and was a reliable corner for them during that time. While most players get banged up, Waynes’ injuries hadn’t taken him off the field too much until last summer. He appeared in double-digit games every year during his tenure in Minnesota.
The Bengals have a new-look cornerback room this year, adding Chidobe Awuzie, Eli Apple, and Mike Hilton in the offseason. Waynes is technically still a new face, as he has yet to take a snap in a Bengals uniform.
Waynes isn’t exactly in danger of losing his job but an impressive training camp would put Bengals fans’ minds at ease that he was indeed worth the money.
