Ja’Marr Chase is confident about his Rookie of the Year chances
It’s been a great start for Ja’Marr Chase in the NFL and he’s been a big part of the Cincinnati Bengals‘ 3-1 start. The fifth overall pick had a preseason littered with drops but he’s bounced back in the biggest way possible through the first four games of his NFL career.
Chase started the season with +1400 odds from WynnBET to win Rookie of the Year and he’s climbed to having the second-best odds ever since, trailing just Mac Jones, giving him the best odds amongst non-quarterbacks.
Not only has Chase wowed on the gridiron through four games but it certainly helps his case that the rookie quarterbacks have mostly struggled. Trevor Lawrence was the preseason leader but his odds dropped significantly after a rough start. He bounced back against the Bengals but he’s going to have to play like that every week for the rest of his rookie season if he wants to win the title.
Back to Chase though — The Bengals wide receiver was asked during his Monday press conference about the Rookie of the Year race. He gave a very confident answer.
Ja’Marr Chase thinks he’s a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year.
Bengals fans love the confidence from their top receiver and his stats speak for themselves, as he’s hauled in 17 receptions for 297 yards and four touchdowns in four games. This past game was the first one in which he didn’t score a touchdown.
Chase is on track to win Offensive Rookie of the Year and while he’s not the frontrunner right now, he clearly believes he is. As long as he keeps doing what he’s doing and being Joe Burrow’s go-to guy, he has a good chance to be the Bengals’ first Rookie of the Year since Carl Pickens did so in 1992.
