Joe Burrow collapses ignoramus falsehoods with long-term commitment to Bengals

For Joe Burrow to stick around for the long haul with the Cincinnati Bengals, he needed to see meaningful change this offseason. And boy did he get it. And now he's singing a much different tune than he did as recently as December.

For those who trauma-blotted this from their memory, it was on December 17, 2025. Burrow was asked if he ever thought about playing for another team, and replied, "You think about a lot of things."

Burrow wondering aloud whether football was still fun wasn't long before that. So yeah, I thought for sure if the Bengals stuck to their status quo, he'd demand a trade sooner rather than later.

But thank goodness, after an offseason where the front office acquired Dexter Lawrence, Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook, and Jonathan Allen to shore up their defense, Burrow is doubling down on his commitment to the Bengals.

Burrow confirms he is not going anywhere

A new interview with Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson saw Joe Burrow put it on public record that he will be Cincinnati's franchise quarterback for a long time:

"I'm efficient with my words, and when I'm efficient with my words, that leaves some room for interpretation...But I mean what I say. I'm here for the long haul. I'm not going anywhere. I'm just trying to bring a now-or-never mentality to the day-by-day process. If you're not, what are you doing? Attack the day with a championship mindset. The rest will take care of itself."

Again, all Burrow was looking for from the organization was a mutual commitment to lifting the Lombardi Trophy. That meant spending somewhere near the hilt of the salary cap, restructuring Burrow's own contract (at long last), and at least feigning an interest in wanting to win at the highest level.

Ex-Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis recently came to nonagenarian owner Mike Brown's defense for not wanting to waste money. Hey Marvin, I think you'd rather have had Brown "waste" money to at least take some big swings during your tenure. You might still have a job considering how secure the jobs are of Cincinnati's key leadership.

If Brown had maintained the status quo Lewis praised him for, Burrow would've packed his bags by now.

Anyway, it's nice for Burrow to put any speculation to bed before Week 1, eh? Why make it an ongoing subplot that causes unnecessary drama in the background? No time for that. Not when a Super Bowl is the goal Burrow is trying his darnedest to manifest.

Tough day for those who say Joe will demand a trade

I can't get over how stupid some of the Bengals narratives are in the national media. You try not to give them any oxygen, yet these so-called experts who are paid millions of dollars in some cases don't know ball to such a staggering degree that you can't help but call out their stupidity on Joe Burrow and anything Bengals-related.

Talking heads were still consistently insisting that Burrow will demand a trade even after the offseason the Bengals had, where they overhauled their entire organizational approach to going all-in with a viable Super Bowl-caliber roster.

LOOK AT THEM! Trey Wingo apparently didn't see the NFL transaction wire. Dan Orlovsky is a known Bengals illiterate. The list goes on.

If Burrow really wanted to play elsewhere, he probably wouldn't have been so insistent that Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins be re-signed. Nor would he go to bat for embattled head coach Zac Taylor whenever he got the chance.

So now we can move on from this talking point, right!?

Nah. Watch what happens on First Take, or see the ignorant drivel Danny Parkins or Nick Wright spew at Fox Sports about Burrow wanting out if the Bengals get upset by the Bucs at home in the season opener.
